  1. Well, it's about damn time!! What took you so long!? (Don't give me a tongue-lashing Kristi)

Sorry dude, but I haven't had my laptop for the last week and just caught up on the blog. Congrats on a great accomplishment. I had serious concerns about your safety on a cross-country bike ride and am glad you made it back in one piece, despite the detour in the middle.
What are you gonna do now for excitement? Whatever it is, make me part of it. How about canoeing the Missouri?

    Great job!!!!!

  4. Papi - WOW! It's hard to believe that you started this journey so long ago and in the blink of an eye, it's now behind you. What an incredible accomplishment. As a little girl, I was always in awe of you; you hung the moon and stars, created oceans, and kept me safe. As I grew up, specifically in the "teenage years", my star lit eyes were a bit dimmed, for obvious reasons (I knew everything and you were just plain mean) ~smiles~. Let's just say that as I've gotten older, the moon and stars are hung once again and my star lit eyes are back, for you, my papi, my D. Thank you for teaching me how to be funny, how to be serious, and how to always strive for more. I've always been so proud to have you as my father, and yes, I will give a "tongue lashing" pop-o when it comes to defending my dad :) Maybe I'm not the "typical" daughter, but my dad isn't a "typical" dad, he's better! I'm proud of you, always. I love you!!!

  6. Rich,
I finally got around to reading your concluding comments on this awesome adventure you carried out. At the brunch my wife prepared for you and our Marco Island biking buddies yesterday (10/18/09), in my toast to you I was proud to formally install you on a pedestal in my Pantheon of personal heroes. Throughout your remarkable solo biking journey across the USA, we have reveled in your achievments, anguished over your travails, and now are delighted and proud to have you safely back in the fold.

  7. What can I say, my bro, my friend. I watched you struggle without complaint. I saw you keep the faith when most would have thrown the towel in before Kentucky much less after Kentucky. I heard you question, "why me" as you prepared to go on. It never occurred to me that you wouldn't finish. I can't express how proud I was of you when you crossed into Yorktown. Now that you are safe at home, stay there and write the book. If you do start another adventure take Pop O with you. You may be the little brother but you walk with a big stick. And oh yes, I would have said all these things even if you hadn't sent the pecans!!!
